In order to define the topics and main ideas that are fundamental for the relevance and support of the paper, the following outline was developed:

Introduction

• Transportation Emissions;
• Climate change;
• Electric Vehicles; electric trucks specifically;
• Disposal of solid waste;
• Smart Cities - Concept;

Background information and important considerations

• The fact that electric vehicles do not produce noise and how could that influence the time of the solid waste collection;
• Considerations about the time to charge the vehicles and the impact on the peak load time;
• Conflic of interests: who would be interested in such change? (government x private companies).

Methodology

• Data Collection (schedule, logistics, truck loads, truck specifications, fuel consumption);

Results

• Identification of the necessary infrastructure;
• Comparison between the current method and the possible change;
